Shigmo in Goa..

Friends as we know about the Goa is a beutiful place for holiday. People come from different countries to enjoy the holiday in Goa. Along that in Goa the goans are celebrating their some festivals. In my first blog i have written about the jatra celebrated in the Goa. Amd now the time to celebrate the shigmo festivals in Goa. Shigmo means the the holy festival celebrayed in India. In Goa peoples are saying the shigmo to the holy. Friends we know that the holy is the colourful festival celebrated in India. In Goa we are celebrating ythe shigmo  there are two types of shigmo festival celebrated in Goa. Dhakto shigmo n Vadhlo shigmo dhkato shoigmo means people only play a folk dance at particular place n vadhlo shigmo means people palys a folk dance along taht they paly a folk aongs also.In Goa a word holy means a mango tree cut from hos bottom and that tree placed to some other place.

This is mango tree that the goans called it the holi. In konkani laguage we called it "amyachi holi". After the putting this tree there a nine days shigmo celebrated in the Goa. In this there are many small small festivals are celebarted like the gadeostav, ghqodemodni,chorostav ,ranmale,gado. And the festival continued for the nine or elven days.

Goan festivals

Hii guys i am from goa .U must be knowing goa is full of nature beauty . And also the people of goa celebrating the local festivals as my topic is goan festivals so lets talk about the goan local festivals. There are many festivals in goa like carnival ,christmas,the famous jatra of shri lairai devi, the famous shigmo and dashahara of pedne,etc

First we know about the jatra of shri lairai devi ..
Shri lairai devi is a local deti of people of goa there is a history behind the festival called jatra people are saying that there are seven sisters and shri larai devi is one of them. The local deti of Mayem village is another sister of  shri larai devi. People are saying that if the local deti of mayem village is not visiting the shirgao village than jatra of shri larai devi is not taking palce in shirgao. First the jatra of local deti of Mayem taking place than the shri larai devi jatra is taking place in her village. Behind the shri larai devi jatra there is legend behind it. Before the jatra of shri larai devi the man of each house has to stay out of their house for a 5days and they has to do all the work of their own and this people are called the 'dhond' gan of shri larai devi.

This people are called the dhond gan of shri larai devi. This people must have to vsit the shirgao during the jatra. This people go and perform their dance in the front of godess and than they go at the holy pond to have a bath in that pond and after a bathing they came back the place called "homekund"because they have to pass fro that "homekund" .People are saying that the godess came and burnt that homekund with the flower of mogra. Because the godess favourite flower is mogra.

This is the homekund of the godess.

And this is the dhond gan passing through the homekund. And all dhond gan are passed out from that homekund the jatra of the godess get over but the function is remainig for the 5 days.
